MUN Skin Care | AKWI Purifying Cleanser Review

The December Beauty Heroes Discovery box, I am over the moon about!🌙 It contains the AKWI Purifying Cleanser by MUN  Skin Care (pronounced "moon"). It is accompanied with an organic cleansing towel, which is called the Ikeuchi Organic Cleansing Towel (retails for $12). Both products combined retail for $72 but with my Beauty Heroes Subscription service my cost was pretty much cut in half. With the winter solstice just around the corner to me it was just perfect timing and a perfect hero product to have this time of year.

I myself am new to MUN line so I thought I would provide you all with a quick introduction to them. For any of you wanting more details you can click on this link that will bring you to the MUN Skin Care website where you can get your education on. But, for those of you that prefer the cliff note version here you go!

MUN was curated by celebrity makeup artist Munemi Imai. Her vision was to create a skincare line that embodied simplicity, efficacy and transparent ingredients. A destined encounter on a flight from Morocco with Anas (a business man w/ strong family ties to Moroccan cooperatives) is what turned MUN into a reality.

Now lets talk about the hero product shall we...

Claims: 

It has a tremendous amount of natural and organic anti-aging ingredients. Which I am ga-ga over. MUN also says it will...

• Gently and completely removes waterproof makeup and impurities without stripping.
• Softens skin with camellia, argan, and cucumber seed oil
• Balance skin's pH and oil production

Packaging: The AKWI cleanser signifies a new look and formulation for MUN that they made exclusive to beauty heroes and their subscribers. The packaging is a high end sturdy sleek black bottle with simplistic white writing. 

The AKWI (which is Moroccan for awakening) purifying cleanser is a light cleansing milk. To me it has more of a milky light serum texture that dissolves all traces of makeup and impurities off the skin without stripping the skin. I find this the perfect cleanser to use during the colder months  because I really feel it cleaning my skin and adding conditioning nutrients back into my skin that is lost during the brittle cold season. 

Application: MUN recommends you dispense six to eight pumps morning and night. However, I think this is dependent on your skin type. I personally felt that even with six pumps it was too much for my face in the morning. I think that 3 pumps was more suited for me. But, if I had a heavy makeup day I would use about 4-6 pumps in the evening or do a second cleanse of 3 pumps. Mainly you just have to experiment the first few times to see which suits you best. 

Application with Cleansing cloth: For a deeper and light exfoliation cleanse MUN suggest soaking the washcloth with warm water and pressing it to your face until it cools. Then use the cloth to gently remove the excess cleaner.

Ingredients: 

• Argan Oil - anti-aging
• Camellia Seed Oil - anti-aging, anti-inflammatory
• Castor Seed Oil - clearing, antibacterial
• Cucumber Seed Oil -  anti-aging, detoxifying
• Rice Bran Oil -  anti-aging, brightening

Final Thoughts: I have been using Beauty Heroes skincare products for close to a year now and my skin has never been better looking and feeling. This AKWI Purifying Cleanser is another hero product that I feel lucky to have been introduced too and have in my skincare arsenal.
